6000 booked for entering the Red Zone

ISLAMABAD: Police here have registered a case against seven identified and 6000 unknown people who entered the Red Zone on Sunday (18th August, 2024) manifesting under the banner of Aalmi Majlis Tahaffuz-i-Nabuwat.

It may be recalled that, despite imposition of Section 144, 6000 people, armed with weapons and batons, forcefully entered the Red Zone. They demanded resignation of the CJP and reversal of a judgement associated with the Khatm-e-Nabuyyat.

On the complaint of a cop a First Information Report has been registered under ATA and different PPC sections:

Section 7 (punishment for acts of terrorism);

Section 11-W (printing, publishing or disseminating any material to incite hatred or giving projection to any person convicted for a terrorist act or any proscribed organisation or an organisation placed under observation or anyone concerned in terrorism);

Section 11-X (responsibility for creating civil commotion) of ATA along with sections 395 (punishment for dacoity);

Section 2/3 of Amplifier Act, 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapon);

Section 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object);

Section 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions);

Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant);

Section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty);

Section 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint);

Section 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement);

Section 427 (mischief causing damage).
