8608 Pakistanis, incarcerated abroad, released

ISLAMABAD: The 8608 Pakistanis who were incarcerated in the jails of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Malaysia, Iraq, Qatar and Kuwait have been released.

According to details 2020 prisoners were released by Saudi Arabia, 3023  from UAE, 1500 from Malaysia, 1500 from Malaysia, 668 from Iraq, 106 from Qatar and 113 were released from Kuwait.

It may be noted that two special airplanes were sent to Malaysia to bring the released Pakistanis back.

Saudi Arabia releases Pakistani prisoners

ISLAMABAD: According to the details provided to the National Assembly Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Saudi Arabia has released under royal clemency five hundred and seventy-nine Pakistani prisoners.

Dr. Amir Sheikh MD of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation said that the representatives from relevant offices in Pakistan were in touch with the Saudi government over the release of prisoners.

It is pertinent to mention here that Imran Khan had requested the Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman to show leniency towards the prisoners languishing in the Saudi prisons.

Pakistani mission in contact with Saudi government for release of prisoners

ISLAMABAD: Parliamentary Secretary of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Ms. Javaria Zafar Aheer on Wednesday said that Diplomatic Mission of Pakistan is in continuous contact with Saudi government for release of Pakistani prisoners there as announced during interaction between heads of two countries in recent past.

RespoAbout government policy for overseas employment of Pakistanis in Pakistan, she said that overseas employment is being regulated through Emigration Ordinance, 1979 and rules made there under.

She said that Ministry is in process of formulation of “National Emigration and Welfare Policy for Overseas Pakistanis” having the scope to promote overseas employment, welfare of overseas Pakistanis and their families and reintegration of return migrants to Pakistan.

The Parliamentary Secretary said that Pakistan has bilaterally signed Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) in the fields of manpower and employment with Qatar, Bahrain, UAE, Oman and Malaysia etc.

She said that further efforts are underway to sign MoUs with Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan and other potential labor receiving countries.

S. Arabia to repatriate 2107 prisoners  in Ramazan

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan Friday said the repatriation of 2107 Pakistani prisoners, detained in Saudi Arabia’s jail, was expected by the mid of Ramazan.
He said this while responding to a Calling Attention Notice (CAN) in the National Assembly seeking details about steps of the government for the release of thousands of Pakistanis abroad in jails allegedly involved in different crimes.
The minister said the issue of Pakistanis, detained in various jails of Saudi Arabia was taken up during the visit of Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman to Pakistan.
He said 2107 Pakistani prisoners would be repatriated, hopefully, in the mid of the holy month of Ramazan.  He said ministries of foreign affairs and overseas Pakistanis were working on a mechanism for release of thousands of Pakistani prisoners languishing in jails abroad.
