ISLAMABAD:  Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Saturday that the interior ministry has struck off 9500 names from the Exit Control List (ECL).

“The ministry removes names from the list every three years,” Nisar said while talking to the media persons here.

The minister said that former president Pervez Musharraf’s name remained on the list for upto 2.5 years.

Responding to the question when he was asked whether he wanted to be the prime minister, Nisar said, “There’s no truth in that news. I am happy what I am now.”

He further added that character is important to him than the position.

To another question regarding Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari’s return to Pakistan after 1.5 years self-exile, Nisar said that there was no deal made on former president’s returning home.

“Why would anybody object on his [Zardari’s] return? If he is clear, he has right to return to his home,” the minister said.

He added that the name of Zardari was not put on Exit Control List.
