ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court on Wednesday summoned Inspectors General Police (IGPs) of four provinces on July 6 to clear their position in a case pertaining to the illegal occupation of official residences.
Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar directed all IGPs to appear before the court to take the court into confidence that why police department was not cooperating with departments concerned to vacate illegal occupation. The bench also summoned a record of ongoing cases in lower courts and passed stay orders on the residences in question.
During the hearing, the additional attorney general apprised the court that the police department was not cooperating with the department concerned. He informed the bench that only in Islamabad about 200 official residences had been illegally occupied by police officials adding that the same situation was in Karachi.
Chief Justice expressed annoyance and asked that why the IGPs were not cooperating and directed them to appear before the court till court proceedings, however, on request of AAG the court adjourned the case till July 6 with directions all IGPs to appear before the court.
