AC hears illegal land allotment case against PSP chief, others

KARACHI: An accountability court here today heard the reference against former mayor of the city Mustafa Kamal and others regarding illegal land allotment.

During the hearing, Chairman Pak Sarzameen Party Mustafa Kamal, who has remained mayor of Karachi in past, along with and other accused appeared before the judge where his counsel pleaded for permission of arguments over the maintainability of the reference.

Accepting the request,  the court adjourned the hearing till October 05.

Earlier during the hearing, the prosecutor of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) informed the court that the corruption watchdog had issued notices to all the accused, asking them to appear on the mentioned date.

Former mayor and others including former DG of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) Iftikhar Qaimkhani, Fazalur Rehman, Mumtaz Haider, Nazir Zardari and others are accused of illegal allotment of 5,500 square yards land near the coast.

However, PSP chief, while talking to media after the hearing, rejected allegations against him, saying that false allegations were being levelled against him.

“You are accusing the person who was awarded with the ‘Best Mayor’ title during his term,” he said.
