Gwadar Port operationalised for Afghan Transit Trade

GWADAR: Authorities in Ministry of Commerce has informed that Gwadar Port has been operationalised for Afghan Transit Trade from today (29th of May, 2020).

Taking to the twitter Abdul Razak Dawood, PM’s Advisor for Commerce & Investment stated: “The cargo ship SIBULK TRADITION has berthed at Gwadar, carrying 16000 Tonnes of urea for Transit to Afghanistan. This is a first and marks the beginning of a new era in Pakistan’s trade by sea.

“For the first time, bagging will be done locally instead of foreign ports. Urea will be bagged & shipped on trucks to Afghanistan at Gwadar, which will generate employment for the locals. Instructions have already been passed to allocate all labor jobs to local population.”

The two countries had been trading transit through land routes while global trade activities lessened due to mysterious disease of COVIDS-19. Pakistan and Afghan citizens had also been using Chaman and Torkham borders to go back to their countries.
