LAHORE: Chief Minister of Punjab, Usman Buzdar and other senior officials of the provincial government and police are addressing a press briefing regarding Lahore-Sialkot rape incident here.
Buzdar said that the government left no stone unturned to trace the suspects involved in the rape incident that occurred on Lahore-Sialkot motorway near Gujjarpura on September 10 (Thursday).
“In less than 72 hours, Punjab police managed to reach the prime suspect of woman rape case,” he said, adding those people who will help LEAs arresting these suspects will be awarded 2.5 million and their names will be kept secret.
Inspector General of Punjab Police, Inam Ghani while rubbishing media reports regarding the arrest of prime suspect Abid Ali, said that the suspects haven’t been arrested yet.
“Some media channels were claiming that Punjab police arrested Abid Ali, however, it was not true. The police went to raid his house in Sheikhupura but he managed to escape,” he said.
“A woman has been arrested from his house,” IG added.
To a question regarding CCPO Lahore’s statement, Usman Buzdar said that the CCPO Umar Sheikh has been issued a show-cause notice and ordered to submit his response within 7 days.
