GILGIT: Barrister Khalid Khursheed of PTI has been elected at the Assembly Hall here today as the Chief Minister of Gilgit Baltistan.
PTI-MWM candidate Muhammad Khalid Khursheed Khan mustered 22 votes up. JUI-F, PPP, PML’s joint candidate Amjad Hussain, who secured 9 votes will be the leader of the opposition.
PPP’s Amjad Hussain, while speaking on the occasion pointed out that the ruling PTI and opposition PPP got equal votes yet the PTI was allowed to form the government under a plan.
Amjad Hussain, maintaining that PTI managed to form government by means of political engineering, said there was a question mark on the system how with equal votes, the PTI got nine seats and PPP got four seats. He further said that religious parties helped the PTI get nine seats.
Assuring that he would continue to resist against every anti-people move of the government, opposition leader said that the GB elections were rigged.
Election for leader of the house was held through show of hands as Speaker Syed Amjad Ali Zaidi presided over the session.
