ISLAMABAD: Pointing towards the deteriorating COVID-19 related situation in India PM Imran Khan stated: “I want to express our solidarity with the people of India as they battle a dangerous wave of COVID-19. Our prayers for a speedy recovery go to all those suffering from the pandemic in our neighborhood & the world. We must fight this global challenge confronting humanity together.”
FM Shah Mahmood Qureshi has stated by means of Twitter: “We express our support to the people of India in the wake of the current wave of COVID-19 infections, that has hit our region hard. On behalf of the people of Pakistan, I extend our heartfelt sympathies to the affected families in India.
“COVID19 is yet another reminder that humanitarian issues require responses beyond political consideration. Pakistan continues to work with SAARC countries to foster cooperation to tackle the pandemic.
“As a gesture of solidarity with the people of India in the wake of the current wave of COVID-19, Pakistan has officially offered relief & support to India, including ventilators, Bi PAP, digital X ray machines, PPEs & other related items. We believe in a policy of Humanity First” FM stated.
Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry also took to the twitter to express concern over the grim situation in India: “In these difficult times our prayers are with people of India may God be kind and may these difficult times get over soon.” It is pertinent to mention here that presently India happens to harbor 2.5M citoyens who had tested positive for COVID-19.
There are 346,000 new cases and 2600 deaths in a single day on Friday. India has reported 1,000,000 new cases in three days. There is a severe dearth of oxygen in Indian hospitals where the government has deployed military planes and trains to get oxygen from the far corners of the country to Delhi.
