First ever solar plane accomplished trans-Pacific journey

MEHWISH

CALIFORNIA:  An experimental plane “Solar Impulse 2” using only the sun-power has landed in Mountain View California after a three-day flight across the Pacific.

The pilot Bertrand Piccard took off from Hawaii for a five-day non-stop solo flight from Hawaii to Japan that made the world record as the longest duration flight.

The Solar Impulse 2 crew attempted to fly around the world using only the solar energy trying to convey the message that “by attempting the first solar-flight around the world Bertrand Piccard and Andre Borschberg wanted to support concrete action for sustainability and show that the world can be run on clean technologies”  said the team in a statement.
