There is no genocide in Gaza: UK PM

LONDON: PM Keir Starmer, while speaking at the parliament here on Wednesday (13th November, 2024) gave the earthshaking news that Israel was not committing genocide in Gaza!

Independent lawmaker Ayoub Khan maintained that Lammy’s words were not acceptable cited: “Article two of the United Nations Genocide Convention makes it explicitly clear that genocide is not about numbers, it’s about intent. The intent of the Israeli government and the IDF has been explicitly clear in words and in actions over the past 400 days, more than 45,000 innocent men, women and children killed.”

It may be recalled that recently the Foreign Secretary David Lammy had claimed that genocide referred to death of millions of people. Ayoub Khan, pointing out that the Foreign Minister David Lammy had denied that a genocide was even taking place, suggested that the Israeli army had not yet killed enough Palestinians to constitute genocide, asked Keir Starmer: “Will the Prime Minister share his definition of genocide with this House?”

Prime Minister Starmer responding to Ayoub Khan said: “It would be wise to start a question like that by reference to what happened in October of last year. I’m well aware of the definition of genocide, and that is why I’ve never described this as and referred to it as genocide.” Cynics go haywire looking back at the Hamas’s 7 October attack on Israel without any preparation. Were they expecting that Israel would not retaliate to their killing of over a thousand Israeli men, women and children and taking hostages?
