IDEAS 2024 kicks off at Karachi Expo Center

KARACHI: Expo Center is the venue where 55 countries converged to display their military equipment and technologies at the four-day International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS) 2024 that kicked off on Tuesday (19th Nov, 2024).

IDEAS 2024 is hosting 300 foreign delegates from 53 countries and defence manufacturers from 36 countries (17, including Iran and UK, participating for the first time). 557 exhibitors (333 international and 224 Pakistani entities) are displaying their wares in six halls and three marquees.

According to the DG Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO) – that organises IDEAS – it is presently regarded as an established rendezvous for convergence of international defence exhibitors, delegates, security analysts and top-level policy planners. During an introductory briefing held here Media was told that the IDEAS enables Pakistan showcase its strategic positioning and defence capabilities to the world.

IDEAS 2024 will help Pakistan market its products (particularly Haider tank and Shahpar-III drone), establish joint ventures by means of networking with foreign delegations and defence technology providers. Shahpar-III, developed by Global Industrial Defence Solutions (GIDS) Pakistan, (equipped to carry bombs, missiles and torpedoes) have an operational ceiling of 35,000 feet and an endurance of over 24 hours.

Due to heavy traffic and security, educational institutions located near Karsaz and Sharah-e-Faisal will remain closed from Tuesday till Friday (19th till 22nd Nov). Section 144 has also been imposed till 24th November, barring congregations of 5 or more people.
