US vetoes UNSC resolution for Gaza ceasefire, 4th time

MANHATTAN: United Nations Security Council Resolution calling for an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire in Gaza has been vetoed for the 4th time by Biden Administration since the ill-equipped, ill-prepared Hamas attacked Israel on 7th October, 2023.

It is pertinent to note here that all the remaining 14 members of UNSC had voted in favour of the Resolution, that also called for an immediate and unconditional release of all hostages.

Back in March 2023, Pakistan, while welcoming the UNSC Resolution for peace, held:

“We call for the immediate implementation of this Security Council resolution in accordance with Article 25 of the UN Charter.

Under the terms of that Charter article, UN member states agree to carry out the decisions of the 15-member Council. This must be a first step in halting Israel’s brutal campaign in Gaza,

“Pakistan will continue to work actively for a just, comprehensive and durable solution through the establishment of a secure, viable, contiguous and sovereign State of Palestine on the basis of the pre-June 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.”
