BEIRUT: Deputy Head of Mission Umar Hayat in Damascus accompanied 350 Pakistanis (including 245 pilgrims) who were stranded in Syria to the border, where they were received by Nawab Adil Deputy Head of Mission here on Wednesday (11th Dec, 2024).
They will be brought back home Thursday (12th Dec, 2024). Meanwhile, FO informed the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs that urgent measures were underway to evacuate remaining Pakistanis caught in the Syrian turmoil.
It may be recalled that on 9th day of Oct, 2024, seventy-nine Pakistani citizens, who were transported, with the help of diplomatic missions, from Lebanon to Damascus by road, were brought back by means of a special flight.
