GUJRAT: FIA has commenced confiscating properties of human traffickers citing Anti-Money Laundering Act (AMLA) 2010.
FIA can send a reference to Directorate Anti-Money Laundering Cell apropos seizure of property. And following a magistrate’s nod, the process could be initiated.
It may be recalled that after deaths of dozens of Pakistani immigrants attempting to go to Greece by means of a wooden boat, PM had instructed to take action against human traffickers.
Action against FIA personnel:
Sans green light from responsibles like FIA personnel, billions of rupees could not change hands, luring scores of citoyens by means of the reves of green pastures in Europe.
After a new tragedy, for the sake of face-saving, those at the helm of affairs sit together acting naive and manifest their resolve apropos punishing the officials. After the recent death of 40 plus Pakistani migrants, whose wooden boats capsized near Greece, it transpired that FIA officials were involved in the business.
Greek authorities, that rescued 47 Pakistanis, whose boats capsized here on 15th Dec 2024, and declared 5 dead, had later proclaimed those 35 missing too drowned augmenting the death toll to 40, PM Shehbaz Sharif ordered action against FIA officials involved in Greek boat tragedy.
During the probe, supervised by the Director General FIA, it transpired that 35 FIA personnel (including, among others, 10 SIs, 2 ASIs, 5 head constables and 14 constables) were involved in human smuggling who were dismissed from the service. Cases have also been registered against 13 sacked FIA officials.
