QUETTA: Citoyens in the Provincial Capital and many other parts of Balochistan observed a shutter-down strike on Saturday (22nd March, 2025).
Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) had called for the manifestation a day after Police carried out a crackdown against its activists (including Dr. Mahrang Baloch, who reportedly has been taken into custody) who were demonstrating against alleged enlevement of those workers who were asking for their due rights.
It may be recalled that on Friday (21st of March, 2025) a sit-in by BYC members on Sariab Road (near University of Balochistan) was dispersed my means of tear gas, water cannon and firing of blank shots. While BYC claimed that three of its workers died and thirteen got injured, Police said ten of their personnel were hurt.
