PTI expels 5 MNAs from the party

ISLAMABAD: PTI has expelled five MNAs, on Saturday (12th July, 2025) for voting in favour of 26th Amendment against the party instructions.

Those who have been expelled from PTI include:

i) MNAs Aurangzeb Khan Khichi (NA-159, Vehari IV);

ii) Muhammad Ilyas Choudhry (NA-62, Gujrat I);

iii) Usman Ali (NA-142, Sahiwal II);

iv) Mubarak Zeb Khan (NA-8, Bajaur); and

v) Zahoor Hussain Qureshi (NA-146, Khanewal III).

The expulsion letter points out that during the parliamentary party meeting held here on 2nd September 2, 2024: “It was unanimously resolved that PTI parliamentary party would not support the proposed amendments [to] the Constitution and would oppose the bill when it is moved in the National Assembly or is put to voting at any stage…

“You voted in favour of the bill and, therefore, you violated the directions and instructions of the PTI parliamentary party [that] were binding on you as a parliamentarian especially when you had won the election with support of PTI and had taken oath that you would follow instructions of PTI and that you would stand loyal to the party.”

PTI’s Secretary Information Sheikh Waqas Akram took to the X: “PTI has expelled these members of National Assembly for violating commitment, oath and loyalty to the Party. They acted contrary to the instructions of the Party and voted in favor of 26th Constitutional (Amendment) Bill 2024.

And by conduct have joined another Parliamentary Party in the National Assembly. They are therefore expelled from the Party (PTI) forthwith. Needless to add that they also stand disqualified on account of the aforesaid conduct.”
