Air Safety Committee of UK removes Pakistan from air safety list

ISLAMABAD: Following a review, the Air Safety Committee of United Kingdom has removed Pakistan from its Air Safety List on Wednesday (16th July, 2025), allowing the National Flag Carrier PIA and other carriers apply for permission to operate direct flights to UK.

Taking to the X, British High Commissioner, Her Excellency Jane Marriott has stated: “After a sustained, independent, and technically driven process, the UK’s Air Safety Committee has lifted its restrictions on Pakistani carriers. It will take time for flights to resume, but this is an important step, and a testament to @official_pcaa’s air safety improvements.”

It is pertinent to mention here that following the crash of PIA-operated A-320 in the Metropolis’ residential area, (that killed 100) PTI’s aviation minister Ghulam Sarwar stated from the Parliament’s floor that forty percent of Pakistani pilots happened to possess fake degrees. After his proclamation the USA, UK and EU prompted to suspend PIA’s flights to their territories. EU lifted the ban after 54 months in Nov, 2024.
