KARACHI: Provincial govt has abolished all parking fees on the 46 public roads under the KMC control.
According to the notification the Chief Minister of Sindh has imposed ban on charged parking fees from roads. The charged fee can be collected only on Plots/Plazas/Areas specifically maintained by the specific council for such purposes.
Mayor of the Port City Murtaza Wahab, while commenting on the move, said that KMC no longer needed the revenue (amounting to Rs. 40-50 million) it previously used to generate from charged parking.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Metropolis happens to harbor 106 major roads. The remaining 60 roads are either managed by other bodies or KMC is pondering over including those in the policy.
