GHAZIABAD (UTTAR PRADESH): Police has nabbed 47-year-old Vardhan Jain for operating a fake Embassy, since 2016, from a rented house here.
Vardhan Jain was appointed as Honorary Consul to India by a micronation called Westarctica and not an Ambassador. He also claimed to be representing countries like Saborga, Poulvia, Lodonia which are difficult to find on the atlas. He used to share his Photoshopped pictures, showing him with political figures, to swindle gullible clients. He also used to drive expensive vehicles bearing bogus diplomatic number plates.
The accused used to take money from people promising them lucrative jobs abroad. He also used to smuggle money by means of fake firms. When Jane was taken into custody he harboured $53,000. Forged passports/documents bearing stamps of Indian Foreign Ministry and fake diplomatic number plates of vehicles were also recovered from the premises of his so-called Embassy of micronations like Westarctica.
