It is pertinent to mention here that both countries have contested sovereignty at a number of points that had never been demarcated along the 817 kilometres long Thai-Cambodia border. According to a 1904 treaty between (protector of Cambodia) France & Thailand (then Siam), the boundary along the Dangrek Mountains was supposed to follow the watershed line. However, the dispute emerged when France produced maps in 1908. Nevertheless, following the truce, Cambodia will host a General Border Committee meeting on 4th August, 2025.
