PM of Australia Anthony Albanese has proclaimed Monday (11th August, 2025) that his country will recognise a Palestinian state in the UNGA scheduled to be in session Sept, alongwith France, Britain and Canada.
According to Anthony Albanese his government had received commitments from Mahmoud Abbas, President of Palestinian Authority, that the future state shall operate sans Hamas.
“There is a moment of opportunity here, and Australia will work with the international community to seize it,” maintained Albanese, who had earlier pondered over the issue with PMs of UK, France, New Zealand and Japan.
