Trump to Zelenskyy: You will not get back Crimea or allowed to join NATO!

WHITE HOUSE: Following the Alaska rendezvous with Putin, and before meeting here on Monday (18th August, 2025) with Zelenskyy and members of his united front consisting of 7 European leaders, Trump made it clear by means of his Social Media Platform Truth on Sunday night that Kyiv would not get Crimea back (given to Russia by Obama 12 years ago) nor would Ukraine be allowed to join NATO.

President Trump further pointed out Zelenskyy “can end the war with Russia almost immediately, if he wants, or he can continue to fight…No getting back Obama given Crimea … without a shot being fired…and NO GOING INTO NATO BY UKRAINE.” In response, Zelenskyy (who has arrived in Washington for the meeting with US President) has stated Sunday night: “We all share a strong desire to end this war quickly and reliably. And peace must be lasting.” Zelensky, had been showing his reluctance apropos relinquishing sovereignty of Crimea and giving up on NATO.

Zelensky maintained: “I am confident that we will defend Ukraine, effectively guarantee security and that our people will always be grateful to President Trump, everyone in American and every partner and ally for their support and invaluable assistance.” Zelenskyy, is scheduled to meet Trump at White House, alongwith British PM Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian PM Giorgia Meloni, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
