NEW DELHI: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who arrived here on Monday (18th Aug, 2025) for a two-day visit, commenced talks with Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
Indian Foreign Minister maintained that peace on Indo-China borders was pertinent in order to nurture positive momentum in bilateral relationship: “This (discussing border issues) is very important because the basis for any positive momentum in our ties is the ability to jointly maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas.”
Subrahmanyam Jaishankar further held that India and China should pull back their forces that converged along the disputed border since 2020. Wang Yi, who is scheduled to see the Indian premier during his sojourn here will hold the 24th round of border talks with Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.
On 16th Aug, an Indian spokesman stated that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will, upon invitation, visit India and hold special representatives’ meeting to ponder over the issue of their shared boundary. It is pertinent to mention here that China and India plan to recommence trade that was discontinued in 2020 after a deadly skirmish involving troops stationed at both sides of the border. Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, visited China last July.
Following his India tour, Wang Yi will arrive in Islamabad for the Pakistan-China strategic dialogue.
