ISLAMABAD: Following his 3-day-official visit of Pakistan, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi left for his country on Friday (22nd August, 2025).
FO porte-parole Shafqat Ali Khan, while briefing the Media, stated that the two countries had reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening their partnership by means of augmented bilateral, regional, and multilateral cooperation.
He said that Chinese FM and Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China, Wang Yi co-chaired the 6th Pakistan–China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue: “Both sides comprehensively reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, including CPEC Phase-II, trade and economic ties, multilateral cooperation, people-to-people exchanges, and important regional and global issues.”
During his rendezvous with the military top brass, the two sides focused on regional security, counter-terrorism, and defense cooperation. They underscored their resolve to strengthen coordination at regional and international platforms. Chinese FM’s visit was part of regular high-level exchanges.
Recalling that the 6th Trilateral Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan, that was held on 20th Aug in Kabul, the FO spokesman held: “The three sides committed to strengthening joint counter-terrorism efforts and agreed to enhance collaboration in trade, transit, health, education, culture, combating drug trafficking, and extending CPEC to Afghanistan.”
In the month of May, during Indo-Pak aerial skirmishes, Pakistan used Chinese technology to shoot down IAF jets. However, India accused China of directly getting involved in the war.

Wang Yi, who landed in Delhi on 18th August for a two-day visit, held talks with Indian FM and National Security Adviser, apropos disputed Himalayan border.
Indian FM maintained that peace on Indo-China borders was necessary for bilateral relationship: “This (discussing border issues) is very important because the basis for any positive momentum in our ties is the ability to jointly maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas.”
Indian FM held that India and China should pull back their forces that converged along the disputed border since 2020. During his stay Wang Yi, saw the Indian PM and held the 24th round of border talks with Indian National Security Adviser.
China and India plan to recommence trade that was discontinued in 2020 after a deadly skirmish involving troops stationed at both sides of the border. It may be recalled that Indian Foreign Minister visited China last July.
