PESHAWAR: Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast killed one police personnel and injured three others in Peshawar, police said.

According to SSP operations Abbas Majeed Marwat, the incident took place when the vehicle was on routine patrolling on Charsadda road yesterday night, injuring four policemen.

“The bomb was planted near a check-post in the local area of the city,” said Marwat adding that the device contained 8 Kilogram of explosive material.

The police cordoned off the area quickly after the blast and shifted the dead and injured to a nearby hospital.

No group has so far claimed the responsibility for the attack yet, but the police says that Afghan refugees are involved in the blast.

Earlier in April, unknown assailants gunned down Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) former officer and his daughter-in-law in Peshawar.

Sabir Hussain, 53, was on the way to his home along with his daughter-in-law and grandson when unidentified assailants opened indiscriminate fire on his car, killing him and his daughter-in-law, while his grandson remained safe in the incident.

The suspects managed to flee the scene.

According to sources, slain Sabir Hussain’s son was working in an intelligence agency.
