Punjab floods claimed 100 lives, inundated 5000 villages

LAHORE: The August/Sept (2025) floods have claimed lives of 100 citoyens, affected 1.46 million people, inundated 5000 villages and ruined grain crops worth billions of rupees.

According to details the current inundation is the worst Punjab faced in the last forty years. For the first time all three rivers (Sutlej, Ravi and Chenab) overflowed simultaneously. As a result the Province experienced high-level flooding. Cynics go haywire wondering where did the gazillions of public money disappear. Are not there competent minds who could take measures to stop inundations that kill and destroy again and again?

Build small dams, create huge reservoirs, stop denuding the mountains and hills of trees and stones! The common folk – suffering from the agony of existence – have been deliberately kept in abject poverty to serve the elite. Bewildered by the continuous ill fortune they can’t think of future. They will go back to the same black hole, rebuild the kacha abodes and toil, waiting for waters, year after year, decade after decade.
