On 24th September, security forces neutralized 13 militants during an IBO carried out in Daraban area of Dera Ghazi Khan. Slain militants (according to ISPR) were involved in: “facilitation [of] a suicide bombing attack in Daraban in December 2023, [the] abduction and target killing of government officials and innocent civilians”. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed militants.

Militants

Attacks against LEA personnel are constantly carried out by militants. The security forces also retaliate incessantly. Taking to the X, Human Rights Commission of Pakistan here stated on 22nd Sept: “The HRCP is deeply shocked to learn that a number of civilians, including children, have been killed, allegedly as a result of aerial bombing in Tirah, Khyber district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”

HRCP, while demanding an impartial inquiry, noted: “The state is constitutionally bound to protect all civilians’ right to life, which it has repeatedly failed to secure.” However, security Forces said no aerial bombing was carried out. Instead, explosives hidden in a house by militants detonated last night, causing heavy militant casualties.

Some nearby houses were also damaged, and there are unconfirmed reports of women and children among the casualties. Speaker KP Assembly Babar Swati taking to the X demanded “transparent and immediate investigation into the incident, identify those responsible, and not only provide immediate relief and compensation to the affected families but also take comprehensive measures for their rehabilitation”.
