Kashmir protests claim 9 lives

MUZAFFARABAD: Violent protests consumed lives of three cops and six civilians, when talks between Pakistan’s Government and the Joint Action Committee (JAAC) of Kashmir over elite privileges and reserved seats for refugees failed last week.

The slain cops were later identified as Bagh’s Constables Khurshi and Jameel. Constable Tahir Rafi from Muzaffarabad Kashmir was the third cop that was killed during the violent and deadly clashes. According to details, till Wednesday (1st October, 2025), one hundred and seventy-two police officers were injured (twelve are being treated are reportedly in critical condition) while fifty civilians were wounded.

When Pakistan Govt attempted, on Thursday (2nd Oct, 2025) night, to diffuse the situation in Kashmir by sending here a delegation (comprising, among others, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Sanaullah, Amir Muqam and Raja Pervaiz Ashraf) the JAAC of Kashmir (represented by Amjad Ali Khan, Shoukat Nawaz Mir, and Anjum Zaman Awan) demanded restoration of mobile & internet services before any parleys.
