PARIS: One day after naming his cabinet, premier Sébastien Lecornu, who was appointed by President Emmanuel Macron on 9th Sept, called it a day.
In his resignation speech Lecornu admitted that he failed to build a consensus: “It would take little for it to work. By being more selfless for many, by knowing how to show humility. One must always put one’s country before one’s party.””

One may recall, when the parliamentarians were about to show him the door, François Bayrou said: “You have the power to bring down the government, but you do not have the power to erase the reality…reality will remain relentless: expenses will continue to rise, and the burden of debt, already unbearable, will grow heavier and more costly.“
