Contain anti-Pak militants: FO to Afghans

ISLAMABAD: Presently, when New Delhi and Kabul are ameliorating ties, Pakistan laments that Afghan territory is being used by militants to carry out cross border attacks.

Foreign Office here said on 10th Oct, 2025 that Pakistan respected Afghanistan’s sovereign right to pursue relations with any country. But it should not allow usage of its territory facilitating militants carry out attacks across the border: “Afghanistan is a sovereign, independent country, and we do not have any particular comment to offer on its bilateral relations with any other country.

“Our request to Afghanistan, while respecting their sovereign right to pursue the foreign policy they desire for their country, has been that Afghan territory should not be allowed to be used by militants against Pakistan,” FO held.

On 10th Oct the interim Taliban government in Kabul has accused Pakistan of violating its sovereign territory insinuating that the explosion heard in Kabul a day earlier was in fact aerial attack carried out by PAF.

Taking to the Social Media Afghan Defence Ministry maintained: “Pakistan violated Afghanistan’s airspace, bombing a civilian market in the Marghi area of Paktika near the Durand Line and also violating Kabul’s sovereign territory.”

When Pakistani military was asked by journalists about Kabul’s claims at a Presser, it opted to remain tight-lipped sans confirming nor denying the sorties-related insinuations. However, it is obvious that it is determined to eliminate those Afghanistan-based militants involved in killing its confrères.

Interestingly, while Kabul and Islamabad are accusing each other of infiltration, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar informed on 10th Oct that India was all set to reopen its Embassy in Kabul, that stopped operating four years ago following seizing of power by Taliban.

It is pertinent to mention here that Russia is the only country that has recognised the Taliban government. Yet China, Iran, Pakistan, Turkey and few other countries are operating their embassies in Kabul.

FO maintains: “Pakistan reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the security and well-being of its people…Our security forces and law enforcement agencies conduct targeted operations in border regions to safeguard our citizens from the militants.”
