KARACHI: The dispute between Society of Aircraft Engineers of Pakistan (SAEP) and PIA entered the sixth day on 9th November.
SAEP, (that claims to be the sole technical and welfare representative body of Pakistan’s Engineers), represents 1200 members. It is protesting over worsening safety and work conditions, non-availability/shortage of spare parts etc.
Terming the dismissal of its president and general secretary as excessive administrative move, SEAP noted that instead of focusing on real issue like poor planning, and unprofessional management, the administration was targeting the same professionals who are responsible for upholding safety standards: “These actions constitute a direct attack on aviation safety and professional ethics.”
SAEP has demanded the PIA management to reinstate the officials and resolve matters by means of dialogue instead of confrontation. National Flag Carrier, on Friday (7th Nov, 2025) accused SEAP of attempting to halt PIA operations with a nefarious design to sabotage the privatisation process: “The management, in cooperation with the key post holders in the Engineering Department, promptly responded. By using alternative means and working tirelessly day and night, they restored operations, thus mitigating the impact of already delayed flights.”
