Nevertheless, PIA claimed on 29th Nov that its entire fleet of A320s was not affected by the manufacturer’s alert: “PIA’s Engineering and Maintenance department is closely monitoring their fleet’s airworthiness, ensuring safe operations.” PIA, still harboring on the theme of Flight Controls Software (ELAC-L104) on Airbus planes, clarified that: “PIA did not load the faulty software patch, hence our planes are perfectly safe and there shall be no flight disruption consequently. Always striving to serve you better.” Airbus proclaimed that it has identified a significant number of A320 Family aircraft currently in-service which may be impacted: “Airbus has worked proactively with the aviation authorities to request immediate precautionary action from operators via an Alert Operators Transmission (AOT) in order to implement the available software and/or hardware protection, and ensure the fleet is safe to fly.

“This AOT will be reflected in an Emergency Airworthiness Directive from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Airbus acknowledges these recommendations will lead to operational disruptions to passengers and customers. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and will work closely with operators, while keeping safety as our number one and overriding priority.” On 28th Nov, EASA issued an Emergency Airworthiness Directive (EAD) impacting the flight control system of the Airbus A320 family. Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury took to LinkedIn to state: “I want to sincerely apologise to our airline customers and passengers who are impacted now.” It is pertinent to mention here that six thousand of 11,300 single-aisle A320 fleet were recalled, yet according to Aviation Analyst Brendan Sobie: “It’s not as chaotic as some people might think. But it does create some short-term headaches for operations.”
