WASHINGTON: Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has informed the journalists at a Presser held on Wed (4th March, 2026) that a US submarine sank an Iranian warship a day earlier by means of a torpedo, in the Indian Ocean, and the target died a quite death.
Commenting on the Iranian warship sunk by US, Foreign Minister of Iran Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated 5th March, 2026 on X: “The U.S. has perpetrated an atrocity at sea, 2,000 miles away from Iran’s shores. Frigate Dena, a guest of India’s Navy carrying almost 130 sailors, was struck in international waters without warning. Mark my words: The U.S. will come to bitterly regret precedent it has set.”

Earlier, Sri Lankan Navy responded to the SOS call from the crew of Iranian warship Iris Dena (that was harboring 180) and rescued 32 (seriously injured) personnel from life rafts floating on the water. Eighty bodies were also recovered from the ship.

US President Donald Trump, taking to Truth Social on Sunday (1st March, 2026) morning proclaimed: “Khamenei, one of the most evil people in History, is dead. This is not only Justice for the people of Iran, but for all Great Americans, and those people from many Countries throughout the World, that have been killed or mutilated by Khamenei and his gang of bloodthirsty THUGS.
“He was unable to avoid our Intelligence and Highly Sophisticated Tracking Systems and, working closely with Israel, there was not a thing he, or the other leaders that have been killed along with him, could do. This is the single greatest chance for the Iranian people to take back their Country.
“We are hearing that many of their IRGC, Military, and other Security and Police Forces, no longer want to fight, and are looking for Immunity from us. As I said last night, ‘Now they can have Immunity, later they only get Death!’
“Hopefully, the IRGC and Police will peacefully merge with the Iranian Patriots, and work together as a unit to bring back the Country to the Greatness it deserves. That process should soon be starting in that, not only the death of Khamenei but the Country has been, in only one day, very much destroyed and, even, obliterated.
“The heavy and pinpoint bombing, however, will continue, uninterrupted throughout the week or, as long as necessary to achieve our objective of PEACE THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST AND, INDEED, THE WORLD!“
Sources have informed on 4th March, 2026 that fifty-six year old Mojtaba Hosseini, son of slain Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, will become Iran’s supreme leader. Mojtaba survived the 28th February US-Israel attack, that claimed lives of Ali Khamenei along with (family members and) top decision-makers of the establishment of Iran.
