NATO warned by Trump on 17th day of War

WASHINGTON: President Donald Trump, after failing to persuade allies over the weekend to send warships to secure Strait of Hormuz, has warned NATO of very bad avenir on Monday (16th March, 2026) and insinuated: “We will remember”.

It may be recalled that earlier Trump took to Truth Social to state that he hoped that countries like Britain, China, France, South Korea and Japan would send their vessels to form a flotilla in order to secure transportation of liquid gold.

Harbouring on the subject of demanding NATO allies for providing naval support, Trump, on the way from Florida to Washington (aboard Air Force 1) told Media: “I’m demanding that these countries come in and protect their own territory because it is their territory it’s the place from which they get their energy.”

Germany says Iran-US War is not NATO’s War: German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius while rejecting American president’s demand apropos provision of vessels to escort oil-tankers, asked: “What does Donald Trump expect from a handful of European frigates in the Strait of Hormuz that the mighty US navy cannot manage alone? This is the question I find myself asking…There will be no military participation from Germany but Berlin is prepared to support diplomatic efforts to to ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz…It is not our war. We did not start it. We want diplomatic solutions and a swift end, but sending more warships to the region will likely not contribute to that…Germany’s main responsibility is for the eastern flank and the Atlantic…we stay committed to that but we can’t be anywhere in the world.”

NATO PM UK

British PM while talking to journalists at a Presser on energy crisis held in London 16th March, maintained that ending the War was the quickest way to reduce cost of living. He further proclaimed that UK would not be drawn into wider War. As for the reopening the Strait of Hormuz, he said it was not a simple task to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. He further informed that he was working with allies on a viable plan. A day earlier, he had exchanged notes with the Canadian PM.

Japanese PM Sanae Takaichi, while addressing the Parliament on 16th March, maintained: “We have not made any decisions whatsoever about dispatching escort ships. We are continuing to examine what Japan can do independently and what can be done within the legal framework.” While talking to ABC on 16th March, a member of Australian PM’s cabinet member held: “We won’t be sending a ship to the Strait of Hormuz.

We know how incredibly important that is, but that’s not something that we’ve been asked or that we’re contributing to.” According to the Sunday (15th March) proclamation from the presidential office of S. Korea: “We will communicate closely with the US regarding this matter and make a decision after careful review.”
