ISLAMABAD: US President Donald Trump cancelled the visit of Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner to Pakistan (for 2nd round of talks with the leadership of Iran apropos the ongoing War,) as soon as the Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi left Pakistan after explaining Tehran’s position to the officials here.
Foreign Minister of Iran Seyed Abbas Araghchi, took to the X: “Very fruitful visit to Pakistan, whose good offices and brotherly efforts to bring back peace to our region we very much value. Shared Iran’s position concerning workable framework to permanently end the war on Iran. Have yet to see if the U.S. is truly serious about diplomacy.”
Trump took to the Truth Social to state: “I just cancelled the trip of my representatives going is Islamabad, Pakistan, to meet with the Iranians. Too much time wasted on traveling, too much work! Besides which, there is tremendous infighting and confusion within their “leadership.” Nobody knows who is in charge, including them. Also, we have all the cards, they have none! If they want to talk, all they have to do is call!!! President DONALD J. TRUMP”
It is pertinent to mention here that Esmaeil Baqaei, porte parole of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran, had earlier proclaimed that no meeting was planned to take place with US delegates during the FM’s 25th April Pakistan visit.
Commenting on the arrival of the delegation from Tehran here on 25th April, Spox Esmaeil Baqaei held: “We arrive in Islamabad, Pakistan, for an official visit. FM Araghchi will be meeting with Pakistani high-level officials in concert with their ongoing mediation & good offices for ending American imposed war of aggression and the restitution of peace in our region.”
On the other hand US team, consisting of President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner, were also supposed to land here (before cancellation of the trip by the President Donald Trump). Many believed their purpose of visit was to hold the 2nd round of talks with Tehran attempting to figure out a way to end the Iran-US War.
