MOSCOW: At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin will travel to Beijing on Tuesday (19th May, 2026) to pay a 2-day state visit, a week after Trump‘s sojourn.
Office of Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on 16th May, 2026: “The Russian President’s visit is timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Good-Neighbourliness and Friendly Cooperation, which serves as the basis for interstate relations.
“Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping will discuss current bilateral matters, ways to further strengthen the comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China, and exchange views on key international and regional matters.
“The two leaders will also attend the opening ceremony launching the Russia–China Years of Education (2026–2027). Following the talks, the leaders will sign a joint statement along with a number of bilateral intergovernmental, interdepartmental, and other agreements.
“The programme of the visit also includes a meeting with Premier of the State Council of the PRC Li Qiang to discuss prospects for trade and economic cooperation.”
President Donald Trump left for home after having the final round of talks with President of China Xi Jinping at Zhongnanhai Garden in Beijing on 15th May, 2026 morning, sans announcing any deals.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, stated: “This conflict, which should never have happened, has no reason to continue!” China, expressed its frustration with the War, that had affected the world’s economy. Ministry stated that Beijing was supporting endeavours to reach a deal.
During an interview President Trump maintained that: “China was really taking advantage of the US…Now we do great with China”.

Taking to the Truth Social Trump on 15th May, 2026 attempted to decipher what Xi meant by calling US a Declining Nation: “When President Xi very elegantly referred to the United States as perhaps being a declining nation, he was referring to the tremendous damage we suffered during the four years of Sleepy Joe Biden and the Biden Administration, and on that score, he was 100% correct.
