KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that the provincial government has every right to make relevant postings and transfers.
“It’s our prerogative to remove or reinstate anyone. We will do as we want and make appointments accordingly,” he said while talking to media men here on Tuesday.
When asked about sending IG Sindh AD Khawaja on ‘forced leave’ and considering his removal, Shah said: “We haven’t sent IG Sindh on forced leave, and it can also be independently verified. Khawaja has gone on a 15-day leave and will assume his responsibilities after that.”
Sindh CM’s remarks came after the provincial government was widely criticized for trying to politically influence the Sindh Police.
Earlier, Sindh government put on hold the top police chief’s dismissal after the media reports surfaced to this effect on November 25.
The sources are quoting multiple causes of Sindh government’s displeasure with the Khawaja including police recruitment and his refusal to obey orders regarding transporting sugarcane to the sugar mills of the influential people.
However, the federal government had refused to remove the IG from his position.
