Post Panama verdict: Imran Khan demands Nawaz Sharif to step down

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has again demanded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s resignation saying that the premier lost his moral authority to stay in his office.

Talking to media outside the Supreme Court after the verdict of Panama case, PTI chief said the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) cannot work free and independently without the resignation of Nawaz Sharif.

Commenting on the dissenting note by two judges in the epic ruling of Supreme Court of Pakistan in Panamagate scandal case, the PTI chief said two judges of the bench declared the Prime Minister is no more Sadiq-e-Ameen (Honest and Trustworthy).

PML-N leaders hail SC’s decision

Highly charged ministers and PML-N workers roared in celebration outside the Supreme Court of Pakistan as it announced much anticipated Panama case ruling.

“It is a victory of what Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif believes in,” said Railways Minister Khawaja Asif while talking to the media outside the SC building.

“The prime minister has not been disqualified,” the minister cheered, adding, “Nawaz Sharif is ‘Sadiq’ and ‘Amin’.”

Supporters of Nawaz-led government also raised slogans against the opposition PTI – ‘Go Imran Go’ – as they celebrated the split judgement on the highly anticipated Panama Papers case.
