‘Accidental Death of an Anarchist’ adaptation in Pashto staged at NAPA!

KARACHI: Nobel laureate Italian dramatist Dario Fo’s most recognized play ‘Accidental Death of an Anarchist’ was presented by NAPA graduates during International Theater and Music Festival held in the Metropolis.

The adaptation in Pashto was titled Da Bhagi Marg. The play is about an anarchist who dies while in police custody for questioning about a bombing in which he played no part.

Dario Fo’s playgoers wanted him to write a play in order to counter the misinformation that was being propagated about the event by the media.  He researched the case thoroughly getting information from friendly journalists and lawyers.

Director and members of the cast while talking to NewsPakistan.tv claimed it was the first Pashto play staged here.

They further pointed out that since the audience was mostly Urdu-phone, they delivered dialogues both in Urdu and Pashto languages.
