MANHATTAN: Munir Akram, Pakistan’s envoy to UN, during UNSC briefing here has stated that Pakistan would continue to take all necessary measures to eliminate the terrorist threats to its national security in accordance with its right to self-defence under international law and in accordance with the relevant resolutions of the Security Council.

According to Ambassador Munir Akram, Pakistan had evidence that six thousand TTP fighters are presently operating from Afghanistan and the banned outfit’s cross-border attacks are not only tolerated but also supported by the interim Kabul government: “Pakistan has faced the adverse impacts of the series of crises Afghanistan has lived through, during the past 40 years — hosting millions of Afghan refugees, infected by its extremist groups and the inflow of arms and drugs.”
