ISLAMABAD: AIOU announced here today that it would continue to provide education till Matriculation free of cost to the students of Baluchistan & (former) FATA.
The AIOU is the only educational institution in Pakistan that has made available secondary-level free education to marginalized or less-developed areas of the country. The admissions for Matric will continue till 5th March. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Zia-ul-Qayyum hoped that the students of these two areas will take benefit of this facility. Providing free education to students of Baluchistan and the tribal region is meant to supplement the government’s efforts to upgrade educational facilities in the country. The University is already providing free education to neglected sections of the society that include disabled persons, prisoners, drop-out girls, and transgenders. It may be mentioned here that the AIOU had already waived-off tuition fee for the internally displaced persons (IDPs) of the tribal areas. It is also providing scholarships to deserving students.
Dismissals: Speaker Balochistan Assembly supports journalists!
KARACHI: Speaker Balochistan Assembly Abdul Quddus Bizenjo in a rendezvous here apprised senior journalists of his province’s issues.
While assuring the Media Workers of his categorical support, Speaker Abdul Quddus Bizenjo revealed that a bill would shortly be presented in Balochistan Assembly aimed at highlighting the quandary the journalists were going through because of forced dismissals and non-payments of salaries/dues.

Developing agriculture sector in Balochistan!
QUETTA: Provincial Minister for Agriculture Engr. Zmarak Khan Achakzai said today that govt. was making all-out efforts’ for the development of agriculture sector.
He expressed these views while talking to agriculture department officers, farmers and landowners during a visit to Afzaishi Bagh and Model Farm Glue City in Sibi. He said that Sibi division holds great importance in the agriculture sector and ensured farmers establishment of Committee Market in Sibi, this would enable landowners and farmers to store
their agricultural commodities and vegetables in the market committee. Apart from this, the prices of agricultural commodities will also drop in this area, he added. He applauded the efforts of agriculture department experts for the cultivation of indoor plants and said through water management the issue of water reduction can be resolved.
He said that Balochistan’s landowners and farmer community are the one awfully affected by water crisis and drought. The provincial government would utilize all available resources to support them.
He said the agriculture sector is the backbone of an economy and its development is essential for the prosperous and bright future of Pakistan. He said that the Agricultural Research process will be further enhanced in Afzaishi Bagh and model farm city so that farmers can increase their agricultural production by applying agronomic principles as imparted by department experts. He further said that provincial administration is fully cognizant of the accommodation problem the employees of the agriculture department facing in Sibi, and would soon work on it.
RO Plant inaugurated at Gadani
QUETTA: Chairman Balochistan Development Authority Major (Retd) Akbar Lashari today said that BDA department has successfully completed work on the Reverse Osmosis (RO) Plant project and Freshwater supply has also instigated.
He expressed these views while addressing the inauguration ceremony of RO plant at Gadani, coastal village of Lasbela district, today. The plant was run initially on a trial basis to evaluate its working condition. Director BDA Captain (retd) Javed was also present on this occasion. “Other projects launched by BDA in Gwadar’s coastal area Pasini and Jewani would also be completed with the same pace”, the chairman said.
Chairman BDA said that the work on BDA Complex Lasbela is also in progress in Tehsil Gaddani. Department has prepared PC1 for the construction and renovation of the bridges in Tehsil Gaddani and soon after its approval work would be started on this project as well. He further said that BDA department is making all-out efforts for the timely completion of the developmental projects.
