KARACHI: Twelve-year-old Naheeda, one of the eight people who got injured on the ground when PIA’s flight PK8303 (Airbus A-320-214 aircraft) crushed on houses near airport here on Friday 22nd May, 2020 succumbed to 60 percent burnt injuries today.
The child – a resident of Malir’s Jam Kunda Goth – used to work at a house situated at the site of crash (Model Colony’s Jinnah Garden).
Earlier, chairing a meeting in Islamabad PM Imran Khan assured that transparent investigation into the crash of PIA Flight No. PK8303 would be carried out and all the facts would be made public.
During the rendezvous PM was informed about the progress made so far in the probe. He said no effort should be spared to make the outcome of the transparent probe public. PM also directed to make reports of the past accidents public.
Imran Khan asked the concerned authorities to prepare a package for the citizens whose houses and vehicles were destroyed due to plane crash. He also said that compensation should be given to those who lost their lives. PM directed the CAA, PIA and other relevant authorities to adopt measures in order to make air travel safer.
Meanwhile, addressing a Presser here Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar informed that the provisional investigation report apropos the crash of A-8303 would be put before the cabinet and public on 22nd of June (2020).
The Minister assured that the probe would be free, fair and transparent and the responsible people would not be pardoned. According to Ghulam Sarwar investigation board has the authority to include any stakeholder during investigation.
Aviation Minister confirmed that recorders for voice conversation and data had been recovered which would be decoded in France.

Speaking about the casualties Aviation Minister revealed that 51 bodies had been identified by means of DNA tests and were handed over to the their relatives. He assured that the remaining bodies (presently in the cold storage of different morgues) would be given to their families as soon as the results of the DNA tests were received.
Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar further confirmed that only two people survived the accident. It may be noted that A-320 usually seats 140 to 170 passengers and has a maximum capacity of up to 180 voyagers. If it were not for the COVID-19 social distancing the number of passengers could have been double.
Meanwhile the French investigators who came here onboard a special Airbus A-330 aircraft on 26th of May left today (1st June, 2020) for Paris alongwith Black Box/Cockpit Voice Recorder that will be decoded tomorrow (2nd of June, 2020). Two Pakistani aircraft accident investigators are also accompanying them.
