GILGIT: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has said that Pakistan is aware of the hostility towards national security and is ready to fight every element which is trying to sabotage peace.

Addressing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Seminar in Gilgit, he said that Pakistan Army will go beyond the limits to ensure national security and continue the war against terrorism vigorously.

He said that we are fighting the ‘war for survival’ whether the world understands or not, and the sacrifices of the armed forces should not be undermined. “I am confident that we are going in the wrong direction,” he said.

Referring to CPEC, General Raheel said: “Every effort to sabotage the CPEC will be foiled and the army will work for the development of the country.”

He said that even the government of China was desirous for growth and development of the region.

“We will ensure the security of CPEC at any cost,” he said, adding that nexus of corruption and terrorism would be broken at any cost.

“With complete conviction, I can say that we are headed in the right direction,” he added.

Referring to Indian involvement in disturbing peace in the country, the army chief said that whether it’s Modi or RAW or any other enemy, we know their moves really well.

“We will not tolerate any kind of aggression or involvement of neighbouring country [India] in Pakistan’s internal affairs,” he concluded.
