ISLAMABAD: Federal Cabinet had pondered over the country’s overall economic and political scenario particularly the Azadi March orchestrated by JUI (F) here on Tuesday (6th November, 2019).
Prime Minister Imran Khan, while informing the cabinet of political situation, claimed that indicators of the economy were on positive trajectory despite protests by the opposition parties. According to PM the reform agenda of the incumbent government was being resisted by people wanting status quo. Prime Minister reassured the cabinet that government would not back away from reforms agenda as it was meant for the development and progress of Pakistan.
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, while briefing the Media about Cabinet meeting stated that contentment was expressed on the economic trajectory of Pakistan. She informed that PM had given a road-map to various departments and ministries of their targets for the next three months. PM gave directions to all ministries to complete public sector development programs of their ministry during this period.
Prime Minister Imran Khan directed to create jobs and develop parallel empowerment strategies for youth of the country. PM stated that he would himself monitor the progress so that decisions were made on time and red tapism was avoided. Minister for Economic Affairs Hammad Azhar told the cabinet that economic indicators have witnessed improvements and economy is moving in right direction. Foreign investment has increased in the country and stock market is stabilizing. Ease of doing business ranking has also witnessed significant improvements.
The cabinet approved the waiver of passport and fee requirement for pilgrims of Kartarpur Corridor. The visa on arrival facility will be given to Sikh pilgrims, doing away the other requirements. Advisor to Prime Minister on Institutional Reforms Dr. Ishrat Hussain apprised the cabinet on new local government system.
