LAHORE: Young Pakistan T20I skipper Babar Azam has praised former cricketers Muhammad Yousuf and Younis Khan and said that the duo was always his favorite batting pair.

‘My favourite pair comprises Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan. This generation of cricketers have learned a lot from Yousuf bhai’s skill & class and Younis bhai’s ‘never give up’ mind-set and we will continue to learn from them,’ Azam said.

Pakistan’s former cricketer Muhammad Yousuf is all praise for T20I skipper Babar Azam and says that he’s the best player in the country.

Yousuf says he believes that the young prolific player in the green shirts squad will soon make it to the mark of being the best cricketer in the world.

“Common thing in him [Babar Azam] and Virat Kohli is that they both are most dedicated players. They both help their respective teams in sealing victories. Babar needs a little more improvement in longer formats of cricket to surpass the Indian cricketer as the best in the world,” said the 45-year-old.

“He [Babar] is at number three in ODIs and number one in T20Is. All I want to advise him is that he should be more focused on improving in the longer format of cricket. He should follow major players such as Kohli, Smith, Williamson and Root to learn about their skills,” Yousuf, who played his last T20I in September 2010, added.

Senior Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Hafeez had also praised Babar Azam and Indian skipper Virat Kohli saying that both the players play exceptionally well.

In an interview, when the veteran all-rounder was asked if he finds any comparison between both players, he said:

“Nope, both are completely different. I strongly believe that there is no comparison between Babar and Kohli. I think it’s not right to compare these two. Kohli is a brilliant cricketer and backbone of India. He has performed all over the world. On the other side, Babar is also a great performer. He knows how to play in pressure. But both have two different sides when it comes to any comparison between them,”  Hafeez said.
