Bacha Khan University reopens after 26 days

CHARSADDA: Bacha Khan University reopened on Monday, nearly a month after gunmen stormed the varsity in Charsadda and killed 21 people.

Vice-chancellor Fazal Rahim Marwat welcomed students as they entered the campus amid tight security.

“We are satisfied with the security arrangements at the campus,” he said while talking to the media.

BKU spokesperson Saeed Khan said security arrangements for studies to resume at varsity are “complete”. However, watchtowers are yet to be installed.

Khan said the watchtowers will be installed at a distance of 100 metres at the campus.

On January 20, 2016, terrorists attacked the Bacha Khan University and killed 19 students, teachers and security guards and also inflicted injury on at least 60 persons.
