Bail plea of Gill in sedition case rejected

ISLAMABAD: Post-arrest bail petition in sedition case of PTI’s Shahbaz Gill (former special assistant/chief-of-staff to the then PM Imran Khan) has been dismissed by District & Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal here on Tuesday (30th of August, 2022).

A day earlier, District & Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal had reserved the verdict. It may be recalled that Shahbaz Gill was taken into custody on 9th day of August, 2022 following his reading a statement on pro-PTI ARY News. The prosecutor alleged that he had attempted to instigate lower cadre army personnel asking them to act against their seniors.

On 25th day of August, 2022 Shahbaz Gill applied for post-arrest bail. The accused claimed that he had not only been physically tortured while on remand but had also been sexually abused.
