Balochistan Turmoil: SHO’s house attacked

KHUZDAR: Unidentified militants lobbed a grenade on the Hub SHO’s house in Kaushik area here on Monday (17th March, 2025) injuring the cop’s father and four kids of his brother.

Four children who got slightly wounded due to the grenade attack were sent home following administration of first aid. However, SHO’s father was sent to Karachi for treatment.

An IED blast near a passenger bus, moving from Khuzdar to Rawalpindi on M-8 Highway here, on 26th Jan 2025, killed one voyager and wounded 7 others, including the bus conductor who is in critical condition.

Those who got injured are presently being provided treatment at Khuzdar Trauma Center. Remains of the deceased was taken to the Combined Military Hospital. According to the initial probe unknown terrorists had planted the IED on a vehicle parked near the highway.

Maulana Siddiq Mengal, President of Khuzdar Press Club, who happened to be the Provincial Deputy Emir of JUI-F, died when a magnet bomb attached to his car was detonated by the unknown terrorists here on 3rd May, 2024.

According to details Maulana Siddiq Mengal was on his way to mosque to offer Namaz-e-Juma, when a motorcyclist travelling alongside attached an improvised magnet bomb to his car and moved away.

Nine people, including a policeman, who got injured in the blast, were provided medical aid at Khuzdar Teaching Hospital.

It is pertinent to mention here that Khuzdar had been called ‘a graveyard for journalists’ by Amnesty International (in 2014) and was ranked as one of the top ten most dangerous cities for journalists by Reporters Sans Frontieres.

One hundred militants attacked the Police Stations and Levies Chowkis here 8th March, 2025 night.

According to details the militants cordoned off the main bazaar here, snatched weapons and other equipment from the Police personnel after taking them hostage, but failed to unarm the Levies due to their resistance.

Later the attackers set the buildings on fire thus annihilating records stored there. In the Zehri area too the militants took the chowkidaars hostage and torched all the machinery that were being utilised at Sohndah dam.

Four people were killed and five others were injured when an improvised explosive device (IED), attached to a parked motorcycle was detonated by means of a remote-control device, in a market here on 5th March, 2025.

On 16th Feb a Levies checkpost was attacked in Kalat claiming life of one personnel and injuring two others. Due to retaliation by Levies force the assailants bolted from the scene of crime. The wounded are being given treatment at a medical facility in Quetta.

An IED attack by unknown militants on a pickup truck carrying laborers in Harnai Coal Mines Area PMDC 94 on 14th Feb, killed ten and wounded six coal miners. Those killed and injured hailed from KP’s Shangla district. The wounded are being provided medical treatment at Shahrag Basic Health Unit.

No militant group have claimed the responsibility so far. It is pertinent to mention here that earlier, mining companies had been either asked by militants not to operate here or pay extortion money for mining in this region. Those who did not pay them had to face consequences in the form of death, destruction of vehicles, machinery and infrastructure of mines.

Security forces have neutralised 12 militants during an operation carried out in the general area of Mangocher here on the Fri/Sat (31st Jan/1st Feb, 2025) night.

“On behest of inimical and hostile forces, this cowardly act of terrorism was aimed at disrupting the peaceful environment of Balochistan by targeting mainly the innocent civilians,” maintained ISPR while briefing about the clash that had also claimed lives of 18 FC personnel.

In a separate operation 11 militants were killed in Harnai district on 31st Jan, 2025. According to ISPR, Security Forces and the LEAs were immediately mobilised, who thwarted the design of terrorists ensuring security and protection of the citoyens living in the terrain.

It is pertinent to mention here that a night earlier security forces had neutralised ten terrorists during an IBO carried out here on Thursday/Friday (30th/31st Jan, 2025).

According to details four militants were neutralised in D. I. Khan, while six more were killed in separate encounters in North Waziristan district’s general areas of Datta Khel, Hassan Khel, Ghulam Khan and Mir Ali.

Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain gunmen who were actively involved in criminal activities in Datta Khel, Hassan Khel, Ghulam Khan and Mir Ali against the security forces as well as civilians.
