Baluchistan Minister’s convoy attacked

SANA MAHMOOD

PANJGUR: Bullets and rockets were hurled on convoy of Baluchistan Health Minister Rehmat Saleh Baloch when he was going from here to Prom area today morning.

Nobody got hurt in the attack by unidentified assailants who retreated when Levies retaliated.

Sources privy to NewsPakistan.tv have insinuated that among a number of issues that could have instigated the militants to resort to this attack one could be the Minister’s support to the polio-eradication. He had stated:  “I have been advocating for the eradication of polio for the past 10 years through inauguration and active monitoring of polio campaigns. I have actively raised my voice in the provincial assembly sessions. I was able to table the resolution on Polio Support in the Baluchistan Legislature which has contributed towards smoother delivery of polio eradication activities. My goal is to eradicate polio from my province as well as boosting the routine program of immunization in order to sustain the status of polio-free Baluchistan. We can eradicate polio from Pakistan if there is a strong commitment by the government and partners across all provinces.”
